Ray Promer

Ray Promer began working in the surf industry at age 14, sweeping floors at the 311 Surf Shop on 5th Street in Huntington Beach. Under the guidance of James Vartanian, he shaped his first surfboard that same year and soon began riding his own designs in high school.
In 1996, Ray created his first surfboard logos, further developing the craftsmanship and identity that would help shape his career. Today, he remains dedicated to surfing, surfboard shaping, teaching the craft, and preserving professional surfboard manufacturing in the United States.
Through Clear Water Glassing, Ray continues to support independent shapers and surf brands with hands-on craftsmanship, on-site quality control, and more than four decades of industry experience.
